How long does the taxi ride from the airport actually take?
Menara Airport is about 6 km from the Medina. In normal traffic the ride runs 15–20 minutes; budget up to 30 minutes if it's busy, especially to Hivernage or further-out addresses.
Is there a bus alternative to a taxi?
Yes — ALSA's Bus No. 19 loops between the airport, Jemaa el-Fna, and the train station every 20 minutes from 6:00 to 23:30. It's 30 MAD one-way (50 MAD round-trip) and takes roughly 25–40 minutes depending on your stop. The stop is across the parking area from the Hertz sign as you exit Arrivals; buy tickets from the driver or at the counter nearby.
What if a driver refuses the fixed fare or says the meter's broken?
There's been no meter for airport pickups since the December 2023 reform — fares are fixed by zone at the single-window stand. If a driver won't honor the posted rate, that's a known pattern, not a real obstacle.

The single-window (kech.cab) counter accepts both. Several independent travel guides report a roughly 5% surcharge for paying by card, which isn't part of the official zone tariff itself — cash avoids it, or ask for the total before you pay.
Is the fixed fare per taxi or per person?
Per taxi — the whole vehicle, not per passenger. That's standard for Marrakech's zone-based grand-taxi system, so split it evenly with whoever's riding with you.
